Sound Cards & Blending Board

The sound cards and blending board to help a child decode and blend sounds to improve reading fluency.

A set of cards includes:
Consonants | Vowels | Digraphs | Trigraphs | Beginning & End Blends | Triple Blends | Bossy R | Vowel Pairs | Silent Letters | Unusual Sounds Like Que In Unique
All consonants on white card, all vowels on yellow cards for differentiation.

There are 2 different sets:

  • Sound cards with no picture.
  • Sound cards with a picture in the top right hand corner to trigger the memory of the sound pattern. This set is best for struggling readers.

Cards are laminated for durability and easy sanitisation.

There are two slots in the board enabling you to be prepared to  change the beginning, middle or end sound card to make a new word. Making nonsense words is recommended, because we find many nonsense words in multi-syllable words, AND if a child can read a nonsense word that means they are decoding and NOT guessing.

Product 3: Alphabet letter sets

Children’s knowledge of letter names and shapes is a strong predictor of their success in learning to read. Practise with movable alphabet letters builds alphabetic knowledge and once children are able to identify and name letters with ease, they can begin to learn letter sounds and spellings.

Use this set to:

  • Practice letter names,
  • Build words sound by sound enabling the orthographic mapping process,
  • Interchange sounds to spell look alike words,
  • Practice alphabet sequence.
