Building Readers: A course for primary school teachers

Building Readers (Foundation Phase)

This 2-hour workshop is designed to give foundation phase teachers cognitive strategies to improve reading fluency and comprehension; and it gives them ways to help all learners achieve reading success. Teachers make the difference. This workshop will give them extra skills to make that difference count.

If you are a principal of a primary school, this is the perfect course to be booked for your teachers, to help them develop sound reading skills in their pupils.

Topics covered

  • Reading – strategies to improve word recognition and comprehension
  • Learn how to give each child a ‘reading toolbox’
  • Activities and games to improve reading

Course length: 2 hours
Times: Pre-arranged courses, to be booked by schools.

Cost: R2500 for the Presentation and R200 per teacher for course materials.

This course is conducted by Marian Bailey (Remedial Therapist and teacher) and Lucille Kleb (Pre-primary principal and teacher).
